English Tense in Urdu

Sunday 14 September 2014

Most of students always ask me, “how to improve my Spoken English.” I always answer that you must know all grammar rules in the beginning. English grammar is a base of English language. If you try to ignore it, you will never be fluent in it. You must learn all grammar rules carefully. In today’s lesson I am going to teach you all about English tenses that is an important part of English grammar.

english tense in urdu

The tenses of a verb shows the time of an action or event; as,

  1. She writes a letter to his father.
  2. She wrote a letter yesterday.
  3. She will write a letter tomorrow.

As I mentioned that verb shows the time of an action or event, in sentence 1, the verb write refers to present time. In sentence 2, the verb wrote refer to past time. In sentence 3, the verb will write refers to future time.

Now do you understand?

  • A verb that refers to present time is said to be in the Present Tense; as,

She writes.

  • A verb that refers to past time is said to be in the Past Tense; as,

She wrote.

  • A verb that refers to future time is said to be in Future Tense; as,

She will write.

Thus there are three main tense in English and each tense has further four forms; as,

Present Tense

  1. Present Indefinite Tens
  2. Present Continue Tens
  3. Present Perfect Tens
  4. Present Perfect Continue Tense

Past Tense

  1. Past Indefinite Tens
  2. Past Continue Tens
  3. Past Perfect Tens
  4. Past Perfect Continue Tense

Future Tense

  1. Future Indefinite Tens
  2. Future Continue Tens
  3. Future Perfect Tens
  4. Future Perfect Continue Tense

We will deal with them, one by one in next lessons.

I have added a video in Urdu language, so that you can understand much better.
